The diameter affects how the rope interacts with the other elements of the product. In mass production, even a small difference can make assembly difficult, hinder routing the rope through a hole, or affect its fit into a prepared mount. Therefore, before production, we determine the required dimensions and construction.

We select the material for the operating conditions
The type of raw material affects the properties of the finished rope, so its selection should result from the planned application. At LUMI, we can prepare ropes in various variants depending on the customer’s requirements.
Our braided polypropylene ropes are available in diameters from 2 to 10 mm. Polypropylene does not absorb water. The ropes are also UV stabilized. These properties are worth considering when choosing a product for specific operating conditions.
When the rope needs to fit a specific product, not the other way around
In many goods, the rope becomes one of the elements of the finished product. Its length, preparation method, or color can therefore result directly from the design, assembly process, or final appearance of the product. In such cases, custom-made ropes allow for adjusting the delivery to how the material will be used later.
Length tailored to further production
If the rope goes to further production or assembly, it is worth determining its preparation method in advance. We offer braided polypropylene ropes on spools from 20 to 1000 m long, and upon special request, we also prepare custom solutions. We can therefore discuss the requirements related to the further use of the material.
It is worth specifying in what form the rope should reach the plant already when placing the order. This allows us to prepare the product with its later use in mind, instead of leaving additional processing on the recipient’s side.
Color can be part of the design
In many products, the rope remains visible even after assembly is complete. Then its color affects the perception of the entire product and can be matched to other materials, brand identity, or a specific product series. This applies, among other things, to furnishings, textile products, or solutions where the rope serves both a functional and visual role. If the design assumes a specific color scheme, it is worth considering it when finalizing the order and checking the available variants.
When is it worth ordering rubber cords according to your own parameters?
In elastic elements, the selection of parameters translates directly into how the finished product works. If rubber cords are to maintain a specific tension, operate at a specific length, or work with a mount of set dimensions, it is worth establishing their parameters before production.
Diameter and length affect cord performance
Rubber cords stretch under load, which is why their dimensions should not be chosen randomly. A change in diameter can affect the behavior of the cord under tension, and its length determines the range in which it will work in the finished solution.
Before we prepare the order, it is therefore worth determining:
- working length,
- cord diameter,
- its mounting method,
- required stretching range.
If the shock cord is to be immediately ready for mounting, we can prepare a section of a specific length and finish it with hooks on one or both sides.
We select the braid for the environment and product appearance
The rubber core can be covered with various materials. At LUMI, we manufacture shock cords with polypropylene, polyester, and PVC monofilament braids. The choice of variant depends on where the cord will be used and what the manufacturer of the finished product expects. The standard color is black, but upon custom order, we can also prepare shock cords in other colors.
When does custom specification work well for repeatable orders?
A fixed component in a product should be reorderable according to previously agreed requirements. For companies regularly using the same polypropylene ropes or shock cords, this means easier planning of subsequent batches and fewer arrangements with each order.

If the same element goes into subsequent product batches, the previously agreed requirements can serve as a reference point for future orders. This limits the number of arrangements needed before the next delivery.
